Final Surrender- St. Sinner

Thursday, June 2, 2011

Final Surrender are a surprising bunch. Their latest E.p ‘St. Sinner’ is a quirky piece of Hardcore perfection with sprinklings of clean vocals and a good dose of catchy hooks. While the EP is a bit too short, the net result is something that’s very mature, and extremely conscious. Opener Fortress of Merimna (Feat Judah Sandhy)’ is a strong start, a stoutly structured and well-written monster of a song. Personally though, I think the production could’ve given it a heavier edge. Whilst the E.p may not travel too far from their core roots, it does offer moments of deviation along the way. ‘Awkward Silence’ stands out as a softer, slower track with some Indian Classical drive to it- although blatant only in the intro. Penultimate track ‘Sacred Vow’ is clearly single material and falls a little by the wayside. However, It is recommended that you not base your judgment on the single – it’s the album that possesses the intoxicating assault.
